Such centering of Black women in the midst of their own history and culture as people who contribute to the shaping of communities and to the building of nations, gives relevance to our full experience as an African Diaspora. Mother Tongue Monologues presents Black women as concrete cultural beings in the context of a definite cultural community. More and more, Mother Tongue Monologues is being heralded as a vehicle for addressing Black sexual politics in African American communities and for communicating Black feminist thought at the grassroots level.
